I haven’t been watching much of the olympics but I turned the TV on the other day and they were talking about the history of table tennis in China.
They mentioned that during the cultural revolution sport was frowned upon and things like that.
Then they started talking about Deng Xiaoping who may have been directly responsible for the Tiannanmen massacre. At any rate, he is reported to have spoken in praise of the officers and soldiers involved.
However, the BBC entirely neglected to mention this and described him as a ‘political visionary’ and as the man who ‘revolutionised chinese table tennis’. Apparently this is because he allowed them to change the way they hold the bat.
It’s like a reporter from the 13th century describing Genghis Khan as being notable for changing the way people wear hats.
Don’t get me wrong, they don’t cover our politicians any better like when Bush recently said..

TAIWAN - GigaMedia Limited, the parent company of the popular Everest Poker Room, reported increased revenues recently in the second quarter of the year up 31% from the same period last year.
GigaMedia recorded revenues of US$52.5 million with operating income hitting US$11.9 million.
Aside from Everest Poker, currently in sixth spot for world’s largest online poker room, GigaMedia also owns and operates several online casino sites including ImperialCasino.com, CasinoTreasure.com, CasinoLux.com, CasinoFantasy.com, CasinoGlamour.com and CasinoElegance.com.
The firm also opened its London office recently to firm up Everest Poker’s European-facing operations whereby the online poker room derives 95% of its income.

I woke up tonight with the sentence: I am a truth hunter. A truth collector.
I don’t remember the exact words. I didn’t write it down, because it was so clear that I thought I wouldn’t forget it.
But it is true. This is what matters most to me. This is the purpose of everything I do. Finding truth. Collecting pieces of truth, looking for them wherever I go and putting them together like puzzle pieces, hoping one day the picture will be complete. And what a picture this will be. That’s what my life is all about.
Nothing gives me more joy than finding truth. Nothing leaves in me in greater desperation than walking in the dark, not knowing right from wrong.
Maybe this is the reason for my “fiction crisis”. I am still searching for a way to put truth into a made up story.

As the incessant summer heat is slowly fading away in Kyrgyzstan, Labrys gears up towards a new strategic planning session for the next year. Ideas for projects, important decisions are expected to be discussed at the 16-17th August training in the cool mountains of Kashka-Suu, in the suburbs of Bishkek. ok. at this point i’m feeling very sorry for myself.
before i went to bed last night, i gargled with warm salt-water, i cooked with as much garlic as i could stand, echinacea’ed as much as i could, went to bed by 9 and slept for at least 10 hours.
woke up feeling miserable. throat full of razor-blades, lungs on fire and full of gunk, lymph nodes painfully swollen, my face feeling as tight as that character from the movie “brazil”, though thankfully no longer raw.
angi puts on my make-up and my skin feels thick, my face a bit more swollen than yesterday. it feels like she’s applying my make up through cardboard. i see some hyper-pigmentation forming along my jawline. i have a lot more thoughts about his micro-laser-peel, but more about that at another time.
